CES 2012 and What It Brings Us by Zeeshan Daniel

The Consumer Electronics Show ended with a great spectacle of things to come especially in the world of wireless consumers. Las Vegas was a great venue for all. To give you a bird’s eye view of the event, more than 2,700 companies participated in this big show and over 20,000 products were shown all through-out the event while utilizing a floor space of 171,963 net square meters.

Out of all manufacturers that are present, the manufacturer that stood out is Sony. The Xperia lineup of Sony is adding up more through Xperia Ion and Xperia S. PlayStation Vita also got its limelight during the show. This gadget is expected to be available commercially in Europe starting February of this year.

Another wireless product manufacturer that stole the limelight is Nokia. It introduced its new Lumia range of smartphones called Lumia 900. This new smartphone from Nokia is out to complete the line-up of Lumia smartphones that we have seen so far. It has a big screen and it is LTE-capable already. The speeds at which it could achieve are also something to look out for by those who would like to try Nokia as a smartphone.

As for Samsung, after getting an all-time high in sales for the last quarter in 2011, announced the line-up of 4G LTE phones that will be out in the market this year. Three U.S. network giants are out to release the new line-up of 4G phones from Samsung. AT&T will be marketing Samsung Galaxy Note (the LTE Galaxy Note version), the Exhilarate and the Skyrocket HD. On the other hand, Verizon and Sprint will be marketing the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 LTE and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus LTE respectively. It seems that Samsung is out to compete once more and they are doing it as early as the first quarter of the year.

Unlike Samsung, HTC is not going to be in the limelight for the first quarter of 2012 as it announced only one handset, the HTC Titan II. This smartphone from HTC has 16MP Camera and will be sold in the U.S. through AT&T.

Gunning for a spot in the world of smartphones is Motorola which introduced RAZR MAXX and DROID 4 during CES 2012. RAZR MAXX’s selling point goes to the battery which has a high endurance and will not drain fast unlike other smartphones in the market today. LG was at the event as well and introduced its new line-up of smartphones. LG will be releasing its two new phones, LG Viper and LG Spectrum.

A surprise presenter at the show is China’s Huawei. It introduced two new smartphones, Huawei Ascend P1 and Ascend P1 S. These two new smartphones are joining the league of big android players in the market and these two new phones are quite impressive, giving you a good feel of what smartphones are all about.

The Consumer Electronics Show held recently in Las Vegas was just a warm-up of the next things to come. The Mobile World Congress is about to start in February of this year and people are expecting something bigger and better for all consumers from these giant manufacturers of smartphones. What is clear to us though is that consumers around the world can expect to see smartphones dominating the scene as more and more people are waiting for the next big thing to happen.
